About This Project
Epstein Files Search is a free, open tool that makes it easy to search through declassified documents related to Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell. Our goal is to make this public information accessible and searchable for researchers, journalists, and the public.
Data Sources
All documents come from official public releases:
- U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) - 30,536 documents from the Southern District of New York related to United States v. Ghislaine Maxwell (Available)
- House Oversight Committee - 2,670+ documents from Sept/Nov 2025 releases (Coming Soon)
- Giuffre v. Maxwell Court Filings - Civil case documents from SDNY (Coming Soon)
OCR text processing provided by the Internet Archive.
Important: These are publicly released documents. We do not host any private, leaked, or illegally obtained materials.
How It Works
We processed the raw OCR text to:
- Split the archive into individual documents (identified by EFTA numbers)
- Extract named individuals mentioned across documents
- Build a relationship map based on document co-occurrence
- Create a searchable index with full-text search capabilities
Methodology
Entity Extraction: We use a combination of a curated whitelist of known individuals (Jeffrey Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell, lawyers, associates, etc.) and pattern matching to identify person names in documents. Names must appear in at least 3 documents to be included.
Connection Mapping: Two people are considered "connected" when they appear in the same document. The connection strength is based on how many documents mention both individuals.
Limitations
- OCR accuracy varies - some documents may have text errors from the scanning process
- Not all individuals are identified - the entity extraction focuses on known, verifiable names
- Connection does not imply wrongdoing - appearing in the same document does not indicate guilt or involvement
